Lots of our guests ask about walks from the glamping field so if you fancy a stroll in the Sussex/Surrey countryside then take your pick from the list below!

 

A walk through the forestry.

(Approx 1 hr 30 mins)

  • Turn left out of the Glamping field and then turn right onto the main track.
  • Go past the cottages on your right and shortly afterwards enter the field using the stile on your right.
  • Head straight across the field towards the two trees,
  • Turn right through the metal kissing gate
  • Proceed straight ahead towards a pair of metal gates.
  • Go through both and follow along the top of the field towards the woodland.
  • Enter the woodland via the metal gate and keep straight ahead along the top of the woodland
  • Turn right onto a bridleway and then immediately left passing the green sign ‘Riding by permit only’ and proceed straight ahead
  • Go past the farmhouse and stable block and follow the road as it bends round to the left.
  • When you eventually read a crossroads of paths turn left onto a bridleway. (Still a hard track but not as wide.)
  • Follow down to the white house.
  • Turn left onto Rosemary Lane.
  • Pass Priors Wood, Velhurst and Rosemary Cottage on your left.
  • Just past Rosemary Cottage turn left onto the bridleway back into the woodland.
  • Head straight up through the woodland. You will come to a post on your right and here turn right following the yellow arrow.
  • Follow back along the top of the woodland to the kissing gate.
  • Re-enter the field and retrace your steps back to the Glamping field.

A walk to the Onslow Arms

An easy flat walk taking in farmland and the Wey and Arun Canal

(Approx 2 ½ hrs)

 

  • Turn left out of the Glamping field and then turn right onto the main track.
  • Go past the cottages on your right and shortly afterwards enter the field using the stile on your right.
  • Head straight across the field towards the two trees,
  • Turn right through the metal kissing gate
  • Proceed straight ahead towards a pair of metal gates.
  • Go through both and follow along the top of the field towards the woodland.
  • Enter the woodland via the metal gate and keep straight ahead along the top of the woodland
  • Turn left onto the bridleway (by post with blue and yellow arrows)
  • Head straight down along the edge of the woodland until you reach the road (Rosemary Lane)
  • Turn right and follow down the lane passing Rosemary Cottage, Velhurst and Priors Wood on your right
  • At the next white house turn left just past the house onto the canal path
  • Maintain this direction with the canal on your left and eventually you will reach the Onslow Arms pub. (Narrow boat trips available here.) On your walk along the canal you will pass Gennetts Bridge Lock. At this point the pub is another 30 mins away.
  • At the pub you can retrace your steps back to the Glamping site or stop for refuelling. It is possible to continue a round trip by either turning left when you reach the road with the pub opposite or turn right out of the car park if you have stopped off at the Onslow.
  • Head up the road past Clifton cabinet markers to the Loxwood Post Office and shop.
  • Turn in left in front of the shop just by the telephone box.
  • Bend round to the right and continue straight following the fingerposts.
  • Go past farmhouse and stable block (Gennetts Farm) on your left.
  • Cross over the tarmac drive
  • At the next crossroads of fingerposts keep straight ahead
  • Pass Oakhurst Cottage on your left. Follow the track down the hill passing the lake on your right
  • Continue through into the next field keeping on the track with post and rail fencing on your left.
  • At the top of the field continue straight ahead through another small field to the hunting gate
  • Continue straight down the drive and cross over Rosemary Lane into the woodland opposite following the bridleway
  • Head back up through the wood. Turn right at the top of the woodland by the post with the blue and yellow arrows
  • Proceed back into the fields via the metal kissing gate and retrace your steps back to the Glamping site

 

A stroll to the Tichborne Pub

(Approx 45 mins)

 

  • Turn left out of the Glamping field and then turn right onto the main track.
  • Go past the cottages on your right and shortly afterwards enter the field using the stile on your right.
  • Head straight across the field towards the two trees,
  • Turn right through the metal kissing gate
  • Proceed straight ahead towards a pair of metal gates.
  • Go through both and follow along the top of the field towards the woodland.
  • Enter the woodland via the metal gate and keep straight ahead along the top of the woodland
  • Turn left onto the bridleway (by the post with blue and yellow arrows) and head straight down along the edge of the woodland until you reach the road (Rosemary Lane)
  • Turn left here and walk along Rosemary Lane until you reach Turtles Farm drive on your right.
  • Turn in right by the side of the drive following the fingerpost over the stile into the field with the horse gallops
  • Keeping to the left hand edge follow across to another stile
  • Cross the stile maintaining the same direction passing lakes and farmhouse on your left
  • At the far end of the field turn left over the stile into the wood
  • Follow the track over wooden bridge and then continue until you see a wooden hunting gate on your right
  • Enter the field and follow the path across the field to the bottom left hand corner of the field
  • Pass through metal gate and keep left following by the hedge to next gate
  • Go through this gate and follow ahead to the wooden gate
  • Once through this gate turn left onto Oakhurst Lane
  • Follow up the lane until you reach the road (B2133)
  • Turn left (walk down the wide verge on the left) and the Tichborne is a short distance along the road on the left
  • Retrace your steps back to the Glamping site

 

A walk taking in farmland, to lakes and canal path

(Approx 1hr 15-1hr 30 mins)

 

  • Turn left out of the Glamping field and then turn right onto the main track.
  • Go past the cottages on your right and shortly afterwards enter the field using the stile on your right.
  • Head straight across the field towards the two trees,
  • Turn right through the metal kissing gate
  • Proceed straight ahead towards a pair of metal gates.
  • Go through both and follow along the top of the field towards the woodland.
  • Enter the woodland via the metal gate and keep straight ahead along the top of the woodland
  • Turn left onto the bridleway (by the post with blue and yellow arrows) and head straight down along the edge of the woodland until you reach the road (Rosemary Lane)
  • Cross over the road and onto Froggatts Cottage drive.
  • Where drive bends round to the left continue straight ahead through the hunting gate beyond
  • Stay on the track across the top of the grass field
  • Pass through an open gateway and then turn immediately right through the hunting gate
  • Proceed ahead along the top of the field with the woodland on your right
  • Go through another wooden hunting gate and again head straight across the field to another hunting gate
  • Go through the gate and down the slope to go through the metal gate ahead of you
  • Turn left once you are in the field and continue straight ahead with the lake on your left
  • ¾ way down the field turn right at the fingerpost and cross the field to the stile on the far side of the field
  • Cross the stile and turn left onto the canal path
  • On reaching Gennetts Bridge Lock turn left and up the track.
  • At crossroads of fingerposts continue straight ahead to pass the large farmhouse on your left
  • Follow down to the hunting gate
  • Once out on the lane head down towards the wooden gate you see just ahead of you on the left by the fingerpost
  • Go through this gate into the field. Head across the field to the next metal gate
  • Continue ahead to another gate and once through this gate head up across the middle of the field to the hunting gate you can see on the far side of the field
  • Pass through the hunting gate into the wood and bear right over the footbridge to the stile
  • At the stile cross into the field and turn immediately right to pass the lakes and farmhouse on your right
  • Head to the stile and cross over into another field with horse gallops
  • Go to the opposite edge of the field, over the stile onto Rosemary Lane (by Turtles Farm)
  • Either turn right and immediately left to walk back up the Springbok Drive OR turn left and follow back down the lane until you reach Froggatts Drive on your left
  • Re-enter the wood on your right and walk back up through the wood
  • Turn right at the top by the post with the blue and yellow arrows.
  • Head across the top of the woodland to the metal kissing gate which takes you back across the fields to the Glamping site.
